Data and AI for healthy, sustainable food choices

Aiming to develop smart digital applications that empower citizens to make healthier and eco-friendly food choices

WiseFood is transforming food choices with smart, AI-powered tools that enable healthier and more sustainable decisions. By combining advanced technology, expert knowledge, and practical usability, WiseFood aims to provide:

  • Personalized solutions: Tailored recommendations for individual needs
  • User-friendly design: Easy integration into everyday life, no IT expertise required
  • Focus on sustainability: Promotes environmentally conscious eating habits
  • Policy alignment: Reflects national nutrition and sustainability standards

The personalized solutions are summarized in three applications:

FoodScholar: Explore trusted, curated food data on nutrition, health, and sustainability through an intuitive natural language interface

  • RecipeWrangler: Analyze recipes for nutritional value and environmental impact, and offer smarter, sustainable alternatives
  • FoodChat: Personalized meal plans and recipe suggestions that reduce food waste and prioritize sustainability

The project will operate 3 Living Labs (LLs) in Ireland, Hungary and Slovenia, bringing together stakeholders and citizens to co-design and test solutions. In Hungary, ESSRG will work with the Wasteless Foundation to engage citizens and ensure that WiseFood solutions are relevant, adaptable, and widely applicable.
